Ontario reports 654 new COVID-19 cases, 80 of those in Brampton, Mississauga

Ontario is reporting 654 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Saturday (Oct. 9) and two more virus-related deaths.
Of those, 464 cases are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 190 are in fully vaccinated individuals, according to Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health.
According to provincial data, 80 new cases are being reported in Peel, 47 in Hamilton, 17 in the Durham Region, 21 in Halton and 20 in the Niagara Region.
To date, 22,042,483 vaccine doses have been administered across the province, with 86.9 per cent of eligible Ontarians with one dose and 82.1 per cent with two doses.
According to Elliott, 258 people are hospitalized with COVID-19-related illness across Ontario and of those, 219 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 39 are fully vaccinated.
