Ontario reporting 4,855 new COVID-19 cases, 597 patients in ICU

Ontario is reporting 4,855 new COVID-19 cases today, Jan. 29 (down 482 from yesterday) and 58 more deaths, with the seven-day case average falling to 5,066.

There are 663 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 212 in Niagara region, 187 in Hamilton, 186 in Durham, and 148 in Halton.

3,439 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, of which 55% were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 and 45% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19, says Health Minister Christine Elliott.

597 people are in ICU with COVID-19. 82% of ICU patients were admitted for COVID-19 and 18% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19.

30,490,270 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 91.8% of residents 12+ having received one dose and 89.1% having received two doses.
