Ontario Partners With App Rewarding Users for Being Healthy

If being healthy in itself wasn’t enough for you, perhaps you’ll be motivated to stay active by free movies and travel.
The province recently partnered with Carrot Rewards, a health promotion app that rewards users for things like being active, eating healthy, and quitting smoking.
Ontario will invest $1.5 million in a one-year pilot project for the app, which launched in the province on February 17, 2017.
Carrot Rewards is geared towards reducing the risk of chronic diseases by promoting healthy and active living.
Basically, it’s a free app that rewards users with points for being active and health conscious, and those points can earn things like free travel, gas, or movies.
Users might be rewarded for actions such as achieving personal step goals and completing educational health quizzes.
In case you were wondering, Carrot Rewards was co-created through a partnership with national charities including the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada and YMCA Canada, and select loyalty partners
It’s supported by funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, the British Columbia Ministry of Health and with involvement of the BC Alliance for Healthy Living Society.
According to the province, approximately 200,000 people in Ontario are already actively using Carrot Rewards.
