Today (Feb. 2), MPP for Milton, Parm Gill, announced that the Ontario Government is investing $17.9 million to build a new elementary school in Milton.

The Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School will be part of the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) and will be located on Gordon Krantz Ave. It will feature a total of 671 elementary spaces, 88 child care spaces and five new child care rooms.

This is part of the provincial government’s commitment to building modern, accessible and technologically connected schools.

“The new Milton #9 Catholic Elementary School is incredible news for our community,” said Gill.

“This investment will provide choice and flexibility for families and new opportunities for the children of Milton. I will continue to fight hard for our children to ensure they have adequate access to learning in our community.”

This is the seventh new school in the Town of Milton since 2018 and the project is part of a province-wide investment of over $600 million to support new schools and child care spaces.

“In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made safer schools a priority, which is why we continue to invest in modern and accessible learning spaces with improved ventilation,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education.

“This investment is part of our multiyear plan to build, expand, and update schools and child care spaces across our province. It will leave a lasting legacy that benefits working families for years to come.”

Additionally, the investment is part of the Ontario government’s commitment to providing $14 billion to support school construction over a course of 10 years. There are currently over 300 child care and education building-related projects in development across the province with over 100 actively under construction.
