What is Lakeridge Health?

With a significant percentage of Durham residents unaware of the full range of care available in the region, the health care network has launched This is Lakeridge Health, a year-long campaign to raise awareness of the services it provides and connect more people to the care they need and deserve, close to home.

“Lakeridge Health is shaping the future of care across Durham Region, serving 750,000 residents through an integrated network that reaches people from all walks of life,” said Lakeridge Health CEO Cynthia Davis. “We’re advancing services, expanding access, and ensuring no one is left behind. We know the best care should always be close to home and available to everyone. Together, we’re realizing our vision of One System. Best Health.”

Some people believe Lakeridge Health is just one hospital, she added, but is “more than a hospital. It is a health network that includes five hospitals, a long-term care home, a community-based surgical centre, and more than 30 community sites. “

Lakeridge Health delivers high-quality care across the region and as a leading academic health institution, it also trains the next generation of health care professionals and helps shape the future of care in Ontario.

“From emergency care to surgery, cancer treatment, mental health and addictions services, and long-term care, our teams are putting expertise into action,” said Chief of Staff Dr. Randy Wax. “Together with our community partners, we’re building towards a comprehensive system of care defined by excellence, innovation, and compassion. This is Lakeridge campaign recognizes the people and programs that bring our commitment to exceptional care for all of Durham Region to life.”

The campaign will feature stories from across the organization, spotlighting programs achieving exceptional results, areas often misunderstood, and the people who make care possible every day.

Strategic Communications Senior Director Shara Santan, whose team is leading the campaign, said the goal is to “share the stories that reflect the heart of our community – stories that help people see themselves in the care we provide.”

“As Durham Region continues to grow and welcome newcomers, this campaign brings forward diverse voices and experiences, so everyone knows where to turn for care close to home. When we tell our story together, we build understanding, trust, and connection across our region.”

Residents and team members are encouraged to watch the campaign video and to visit lh.ca/this-is-lh for updates, stories, and tools to stay informed.
