With the Ontario provincial election about three months away, expect to see plenty of candidates announcements in the next few weeks.

Among the first is Burlington’s Kyle Hutton, a long-time local resident, political activist and transportation industry worker, who will run in the Burlington riding.

“I’m tired of hearing excuses from the status quo parties,” Hutton said. “Growing up in Ontario, I’ve experienced the empty promises of governments. Enough is enough. Ontario Greens have a real plan for real action.”

Conservative Jane McKenna is the current MPP for the riding, but she has announced she will not be up for re-election.

“Kyle is a passionate voice in local and provincial politics,” said Ontario Green Party leader Mike Schreiner. “He’s an experienced volunteer and campaigner and knows what it’s going to take to bring more Green voices to Queen’s Park and implement real change.”

Hutton said he plans to make housing, local governance, and fighting climate change his top priorities.

“What I’ve lived through in the past decades of Liberal, NDP and Conservative leadership is no action and seeming little interest beyond what they can promise at election time,” Hutton said.
