TORONTO — Ontario is reporting 3,019 patients are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 today.

That’s down 420 from the day before, though not all health-care facilities share data on weekends..

That marks the fourth straight day of declining COVID-19 hospitalizations in the province, for a total decrease of 997 patients since Jan. 26.

The province says there are 587 people in intensive care due to the illness, including 358 on ventilators.

Authorities logged 3,960 new COVID-19 cases, but the actual number is likely higher due to testing policies that limit access for many residents.

Ontario’s official virus-related death toll rose by 58, with three of the newly reported deaths taking place more than a month ago.
