Port Colborne was the last Niagara Region municipality to open the doors wide at City Hall, having done so at the end of November.

It’s now to first one to shut things down again, due to the explosively contagious nature of the Omicron variant.

As of Tuesday (December 21), the doors were locked to the public again. The city explained, “Out an of abundance of caution heading into the holiday season, the City’s administration buildings will return to delivering services by phone, email, virtually, or curb-side pick-up.”

Interestingly enough, City Hall was due to shut down in full, starting December 24 right through to January 4 for their annual Christmas closing but decided to back-date it a few days due to the resurgence of COVID-19.

However, as the city said, there still will be access to City Hall services, just not in person.
