Online threats to a school results in charges against Hamilton man

A man from Hamilton faces a battery of charges after a Toronto university received numerous online threats.

Community members at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) received numerous threats of death or bodily harm over the weekend of November 26 and 27, according to Toronto Police Service.

The following Monday, November 28, Hamilton Police Service’s Tactical Unit raided a home in the city. They seized several electronic devices and arrested a man.

Usman Suhrwardy, 39 of Hamilton faces 23 counts of uttering threats of death or bodily harm and three counts of harassment. He will answer to the charges in a Toronto courtroom on November 29.
