One person killed in Whitby crash, second person airlifted to hospital

Police appeal for witnesses after a cyclist was injured in a collision.

A two-vehicle car crash in North Whitby has left one man dead, and sent a woman to a Toronto trauma centre.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a local trauma centre with serious injuries.

The collision happened just before 3 pm today near the intersection of Lakeridge Road and Columbus Road West.

The roadway is closed while the investigation is underway. Durham Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
