One person is fighting for their life after a single-vehicle crash in Mississauga overnight.

Emergency crews responded to the crash on Southdown Road, south of Bromsgrove Road, near the Clarkson GO station, around 1:50 a.m. this morning (Jan. 26), Peel Regional Police said.

In an update just before noon, police said the vehicle had struck a pole.

Reports indicate there were five young men in a van. The van appears to have rolled on its side.

Three people were rushed to hospital, Peel Regional Police Const. Nikhil Chakravarthy told insauga.com.

In the update, Chakravarthy said two people had serious injuries and were sent to hospital. One person was later determined to be in life-threatening condition, Chakravarthy said.

Three other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries, he said.

Southdown Road was still closed between Lakeshore Road and Bromsgrove Road as of 11:45 a.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and anyone with information should contact Peel Regional Police.
