One person dead after early morning shooting in St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police Service respond to reports of a shooting that happened very early this morning (June 12) in St. Catharines.

Police say the incident occurred in the area of Pleasant Ave. and Lake St. at approximately 3:30 a.m.

Officers discovered three victims upon arrival at the scene.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident and police say they were transported to an out-of-town hospital for treatment.

The third victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have closed off the area where the shooting happened, asking motorists to find alternate routes.

The Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit has taken over control of this investigation.

The Unit is appealing to members of the public with dashcam or surveillance footage of the area to submit their videos.
