One of world’s biggest passenger planes adds flights between Pearson Airport in Mississauga and Dubai

Starting April 20, travellers will have access to daily flights between Pearson Airport in Mississauga and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

And those who take advantage of the increased service will do so on board one of the world’s largest passenger planes, the Airbus A380.

The 40 per cent increase in service being offered by Emirates, the major Dubai-based airline, will see daily flights increased from the current five days a week to seven days a week.

The service increase will put Emirates in line with the number of daily flights offered by Air Canada between the two cities.

The new flights will be on board Emirates’ huge Airbus A380s, which can carry as many as 491 passengers.

The added flights follow a new air transportation agreement between Canada and the UAE, according to aviation organization Simple Flying.

Canada’s Transport Minister and Mississauga Centre MP Omar Alghabra said earlier that the agreement with the UAE will improve Canada’s international connectivity “and enhance people-to-people and commercial links.”

He added it’s “good news for tourism and the creation of good middle-class jobs for Canadians.”

Emirates officials said recently that the carrier “welcomes the expansion of the air services agreement” between the two countries.

They noted it will provide a boost to the aviation and tourism sectors in both Canada and the UAE.
