One of the largest gyms in Mississauga closes suddenly due to legal dispute, says it will reopen

One of the largest gyms in Mississauga closed unexpectedly last week.
Fuzion Fitness, in Dunwynn Centre at 1590 Dundas St. E., closed suddenly last week catching some members off guard.
A notice of termination was posted on the window last week, according to a post on Reddit and several comments on Google reviews. The notice states the gym’s lease was terminated due to non-payment, effective April 5.
This is the second gym to close suddenly in recent weeks in Mississauga. UFC Gym Mississauga closed and cleared out all its equipment in March.
But the situation with Fuzion Fitness appears to be different. In an Instagram message to insauga.com, Fuzion Fitness says there is a dispute with the landlord and lawyers and they expect to reopen tomorrow (April 11).
“We should be open by tomorrow morning so nothing to report,” the gym said in the message.

A representative from McCOR Realties (Ontario) Inc., which manages the Dunwynn Centre, told insauga.com that it is a legal matter and he can not comment or say when the gym would be allowed to reopen.
Meanwhile, the members have taken to Reddit to try and understand what is happening.
“Just tried to go to the gym, Fuzion Fitness by Dixie Dundas and saw their lease has been terminated,” a post on Reddit reads. “Wondering if anybody here might have any other info. Not great that there’s been zero communication from the gym but would rather not have to look for another gym if they plan on reopening.”
While Fuzion says they have informed members of the situation through email, more comments on Google reviews seem to indicate at least some people didn’t expect the gym to be closed. As of Monday (April 10) they are listed as open on Google.
“Went to the gym yesterday morning to find a notice of termination on the door and have received no emails or communication as of today, from the company as to what is going on,” one member wrote on Google reviews.
“While coming to the gym this afternoon, I’ve just found out it was closed down by the landlord,” another person wrote. “No notification had been provided by the owners about the outcome, of which, I hope, is a temporary issue.”
This notice was posted at the gym last week.
Up until this incident, Fuzion Fitness had many four- and five-star reviews with people praising the staff, professionalism and the ambience of the gym.
Opening in the summer of 2021, Fuzion Fitness is relatively new. The location has been home to a gym for many years. Before Fuzion, it was Wynn Fitness.
There is a proposal to demolish the Dunwynn Centre to make way for a residential development with 3,027 units in three blocks of townhouses, and 10 apartment/condo buildings between 12 and 41 storeys high.
But the project, first proposed in September, is still in its early stages and is likely years away from construction.
Update: On April 12, Fuzion Fitness announced on Instagram that they had reopened at 3 p.m.
