Plank Restobar is one of the best waterfront restaurants to try in Oakville

If you’re craving delicious food in a restaurant that oozes charm and atmosphere, then a visit to Plank Restobar is definitely in order.

Located in the heart of the Bronte Village area at 67 Bronte Road, Plank has long been one of Oakville’s most popular restaurants – a chef-inspired restobar with a focus on food that’s fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced. Reservations are now open.

Plank Restobar in Oakville is a chef-inspired restobar with a focus on food that’s fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced.

While Plank specializes in American small plate items that are perfect for tasting a little bit of this and a little bit of that (and definitely great for sharing around the table), the globally inspired menu changes every season, borrowing the best cuisine from different cultures around the world. In fact, the restaurant’s chefs regularly go on food tours for inspiration, visiting foodie destinations such as New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, and Mexico.

Of course, you can’t forget about the menu’s mainstays. Some of their most popular dishes include:

  • House Sliders: Bourbon bacon jam, brioche, garlic aioli, vintage cheddar

  • Duck Poutine: Slow braised Ontario duck, foie gras gravy, Quebec cheese curds, house cut fries
  • Cauliflower Fritters: Beer batter, roasted garlic aioli, Pecorino cheese

  • Artisan Pizza: A variety of artisan, hand-crafted thin crust pizzas made in Plank’s imported Italian oven. Options range from the classic D’Italiano (Prosciutto, arugula, shaved parmesan, fior di latte, tomato sauce) to the spicy Home Slice (Roasted garlic base, fire roasted jalapeno, double smoked bacon, pickled jalapeno, aged cheddar, cheesy garlic aioli).

Nothing accompanies good food better than a refreshing drink, and Plank’s got plenty of options from the bar. Their cocktail menu features a variety of flavourful and seasonally inspired cocktails, including their signature Oak & Smoke cocktail: Basil Hayden Bourbon, Ginger Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Honey, Bitters.

They also have a great selection of wine (red, white and sparkling), and a selection of 11 draft beers including some craft beers (both domestic and imported).

For those who love a fun and lively dining atmosphere, Plank Restobar won’t disappoint. The experience is geared towards conversation and intimacy, with beautiful décor, a fireplace, and a selection of classic music from the 70s.

In case you didn’t know, Plank’s name comes from the type of wood the restaurant was built with. Much of the wood was reclaimed from local century homes around the Kitchener/Waterloo area, while the red wood around the bar comes from the inside of California wine barrels (oak wood stained with red wine).

Much of the restaurant’s charm comes from the salvaged items that make up the interior. That includes original bank signage from the Imperial Bank of Commerce on Bay St. in Toronto, two original barn doors from the CNE (they were the doors for the original horse exhibit), and retro pieces like the old Coca Cola sign and original Double Bubble signage, all of which contribute to Plank’s chic rec-room vibe.

If you prefer to dine outdoors, you can enjoy a meal on one of Plank’s two patios. The front patio is open year-round and heated during the fall and winter to provide a warm and cozy outdoor experience — especially during Snowsuit Saturdays, where patrons are invited to hang out on the patio in their snowsuits. From June to October when Marine Drive is closed, Plank opens its tented patio to seat even more customers.

With excellent food and great service from the restaurant’s friendly staff (some of whom have been around since the beginning), it’s clear why Plank Restobar has been such a popular mainstay for the past nine years and counting. Book your reservation or visit plankrestobar.ca for more information.
