One more death at Hillsdale; 23 new cases region-wide, including nine from Oshawa

Another death from COVID-19 has been reported at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa, the eighth fatality at the long-term care home since an outbreak was declared August 26.

The death was reported late on Monday and the Health Department is also reporting 23 new cases of the virus from Tuesday, including nine from Oshawa, five from Pickering and four each from Clarington and Uxbridge.

There are 185 active cases of the virus in Durham.

Durham Region is also reporting two workplace outbreaks – one in construction and one in retail – as well as eight outbreaks in Durham schools and day care centres involving 13 children.
