One Mississauga neighbourhood reporting higher than average COVID-19 rates

One area in Mississauga is among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of September 19 to 25.

Of the top 50 listed, one is in Mississauga: Postal code L4Z, reporting 4.72% positivity.

L4Z is the area with the 36th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.

Additionally, Peel’s interactive COVID-19 map shows which areas of the city are reporting more COVID-19 cases than others.

For the week of September 19 to 25, there were 168 new cases in Mississauga and 287 in Peel overall.

For the week of September 19, Peel as a public health unit has the ninth highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario, higher than the province overall.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of September 19 was 2.1%, down 0.5% from the previous week.
