One driver killed in fiery two-vehicle crash in Hamilton

A woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Hamilton on Saturday morning that left both vehicles engulfed in flames.

Hamilton Police say the crash happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Wilson Street near Trinity Road.

A silver Hyundai travelling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with an oncoming Cadillac driven by a 51-year-old woman, investigators say.

A 22-year-old woman who was driving the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Wilson Street was closed in both directions between Trinity Road and Alberton Road for several hours while investigators examined the scene.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage or information that could assist the investigation to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753.
