Police have confirmed that one person died in the north Oshawa crash, which shuttered a major road through the city.

Durham Regional Police first announced the crash shortly after 4 p.m. on Apr. 10. At the time police noted the crash on Simcoe St. had closed the road from Raglan Rd. to Howden Rd. north of Windfield Farms.

“Please avoid the area and give yourself extra travel time,” said Durham Police Central West Division. However, they did not share information about any drivers and passengers.

That changed around 6:40 p.m. when investigators announced one person had died in the collision. Another three people survived the crash and remain in hospital in stable condition.

“The road will remain closed for an extended period of time as the investigation continues,” police said.

Investigators have not confirmed any expected reopening time.
