A 72-year-old man has been killed and another person seriously injured following a three-vehicle collision in Oakville this afternoon (Nov. 6).

Halton police say the incident took place this afternoon on Dundas St. W. at the Hwy. 403 westbound exit ramp near the border of Mississauga.

According to reports a Ford pick-up truck collided with two vehicles travelling eastbound on Dundas at the intersection controlled by traffic lights.

The first vehicle struck was a Toyota Matrix driven by a 72-year-old Oakville resident. The second vehicle was a white VW Golf driven by a 62-year-old Toronto resident.

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the VW was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening inures. There were no other occupants in the eastbound vehicles.

The 17-year-old driver of the pick-up truck and a 15-year-old passenger, both from Mississauga, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say there is no indication that any of the involved drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol or that excessive speed was a contributing factor to the collision. They are investigating if a medical condition was a factor in the collision.

Westbound lanes on Dundas have re-opened, however, there are still lane closures in the eastbound direction while the vehicles are being removed.

Any witnesses who have not provided statements to police are requested to contact the Halton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext 5065.
