Tobenna Obiaga was killed early Sunday.
A Halton Region resident was gunned down along a highway north of Burlington following an incident at a rental home known as “party villa.”

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Tobenna Obiaga who Hamilton police say lived in Halton.

Police say the shooting took place on Highway 6 in Flamborough around 4:35 a.m. on Sunday and stemmed from a dispute that took place at a nearby rental home advertised as a venue that can be used to host large parties.

“This disturbance continued onto the highway resulting in shots being fired at a car parked on the shoulder of the highway and at another car stopped in a nearby gas station,” police said.

Two other people were shot while another person was also injured at the party.

Police say they found Obiaga in a parked vehicle along the highway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

His family has subsequently released a photo of Obiaga.

Police say two occupants of a vehicle at a gas station were also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries while a fourth person who was at the party was slightly injured.

Witnesses described a dark grey sedan fleeing the scene of the shooting but no further suspect description is available at this time.

Police are still guarding the property and several cars were left at the scene pending search warrants being issued later today. Investigators believe that numerous witnesses to this homicide have not come forward to speak to police and those witnesses are urged to contact the Homicide Unit.
