Update: One dead after a shooting in Brampton

The victim of tonight’s shooting in Brampton has succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The man in his thirties was shot around 7 p.m. near Bramsteele Rd. in Rutherford Dr. in the city’s southeast, Peel Regional Police confirmed. They added he was the only person injured in the shooting.

However, his injuries were severe and he was listed as in life-threatening condition when rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital. He had reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and had no vital signs.

About an hour later at 9:13 p.m., police followed up confirming the victim had died.

They have informed the Homicide Bureau which has taken over the investigation. The Peel police media officers will soon be on the scene for a press conference.

Update 1030 p.m.: Peel police confirmed they received a 911 call regarding the shooting at 7:11 p.m. The victim had been shot while in the parking lot of a local business. The forensics team is currently investigating the scene.
