Drivers on the 400-series and the QEW have probably seen their share of those commercial truck weigh stations off the side of the highway. Those stations actually do full inspections.

Turns out some commercial drivers like to get around those by cutting off the highway, using municipal roads and then cutting back on the highway past the station.

The Niagara Police are fully aware of that tactic and noticing drivers were bypassing the Vineland Commercial Vehicle Impound Facility, they did a one-day inspection of commercial vehicles on the streets of Beamsville in the Town of Lincoln yesterday (October 14).

The results weren’t pretty. They stopped 39 commercial vehicles in total, inspected 18 and then took seven of those right off the road calling them “Out-Of-Service for various infractions.”

As well, three more were issued warnings and 13 were written up for provincial offences.
