One Burlington pool is extending the swimming season while another two will be closed down for a few days over the next couple of weeks.

Nelson Pool and Splash Park, 4235 New St., will be extending its season until Sept. 8 so local residents can get a few extra days of outdoor swimming and fun.

The extension of Nelson will help off-set a series of short-term pool closures to Tansley Woods and Centennial pools for routine maintenance. Centennial Pool will be closed from Sept. 6 to 8 and Tansley Woods Pool will be closed from Sept. 5 to 11.

Additional programming has been added at open facilities and capacities have been increased where possible to accommodate more swimmers.

“The maintenance being done on Centennial and Tansley Pools are relatively minor and will help the pools function better,” said Victor Ljuljdjuraj, acting director of Recreation, Community and Culture.

“Conducting proper regular maintenance is critical to the operations of our facilities. The work will extend the life of the pool and its equipment and limit future service disruptions, benefiting everyone.”
