Despite the fact the winter storm warning ended at roughly 4 am the morning (February 4), there will be no bus service to Niagara Region schools today for the second day in a row.

However, both District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic District School Board have said classes will be open today. If students cannot make their classes, both boards are asking parent to report their absence in Safe Arrival.

At approximately 6 am, the Niagara Student Transportation Services sent out a message on social media saying, “The decision to cancel transportation was based on snowfall accumulations and the ability of school vehicles to navigate secondary roadways.”

It is estimated that most of Niagara was hit with roughly 20 to 25 cm of snow yesterday. While many major artery streets have seen plows, most secondary sideroads have not and won’t until the middle of the day.
