A Hamilton police officer investigating a collision between two vehicles ended up getting hurt after a driver in a third car tried to escape when he attempted to arrest him.

The officer was dispatched shortly before noon today (June 7) to the Red Hill Valley Parkway to investigate the collision when he became involved in a separate investigation.

In that second investigation, spokesperson Indy Bharaj told inthehammer.com that the officer tried to make an arrest but the driver fled the area, resulting in the officer suffering minor injuries. Police were able to catch and arrest the driver.

Hamilton police announced just after noon today (June 7) that the Red Hill Valley Parkway’s southbound lanes were closed while they investigated a crash. Hamilton police concluded the investigation on the parkway just after 2 p.m. and southbound lanes are now open.

Since it was early in the investigation, Bharaj could not provide more details about the collision and the second incident involving the officer getting hurt.
