A 22-year-old man has been charged after a Peel Regional Police officer was forced off the road by a driver in a stolen car in Brampton back in the summer of 2021.

On July 30, 2021 at about 1:30 a.m., an officer was driving his cruiser near Hurontario St. and County Court Blvd. In the busy commercial area, he spotted a man driving a stolen car.

When the officer approached the stolen car, the driver hit the cruiser and intentionally sent the cop off the roadway. The driver of the stolen car then sped away from the scene of the crash.

An arrest warrant was issued at the time for Gauravdeep Singh, 22, of Brampton. He was arrested two weeks ago, on Nov. 29.

He was charged with numerous offences including car theft, two counts of dangerous driving, fleeing police, seven counts of possession of stolen property and failure to remain at a crash scene.

Singh will remain in police custody until a bail hearing in  Brampton court.
