Oakville’s Madison Field saved her best for last in the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) Dream Gap Tour showcase.

The 24-year-old forward scored three times as Team Sonnet exploded for seven third-period goals in a 10-2 win over Team Scotiabank (Calgary) in the championship game, Sunday, of the showcase hosted by the Washington Capitals at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va.

Field’s hat trick helped give the Toronto club its first title of the season and helped it avenge their loss to Team Scotiabank in the final of the Kipling showcase back in December.

The championship win gave Team Sonnet its fourth weekend prize pot of the PWHPA season.

Jessie Eldridge and Victoria Bach, with a pair each, Jess Jones, Jenna Dingeldein and Loren Gabel also scored for Team Sonnet in the win.

Up 3-2 heading into the third period, Field and her teammates blew the game open with seven unanswered goals.

Two of Field’s goals came with less than two minutes remaining.

The former Ohio State University forward (2015-2019) is only the second Buckeye women’s team player to record 100 points with 56 goals and 44 assists and is second school history with 11 game-winning goals.

A graduate of the Oakville Hornets program, Field also won silver medals in 2013 and 2015 with Team Ontario in U18 Team Canada Championships and represented her country at the U18 World Championships.
