Oakville’s Canada Day festivities include ballet to live music and fireworks

This year’s Canada Day festivities at Oakville’s Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park will offer something for the whole family.

The fun holiday event is free with family activities and the food trucks set to open at 6 p.m. and then all topped off with the fireworks at 10 p.m. (weather permitting).

Residents are being encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and get to the park early for the best view of the fireworks.

As well, don’t forget to check off this location in the Town’s Celebrate Summer Scavenger Hunt.

Residents can also take a picture with one of the At Home in Bronte Muskoka Chairs (located at 2340 Ontario Street) as part of the Town’s tour to learn more about Oakville’s history, impressive public art, gardens, and more.

Visit at least five of the eight Celebrate Summer Scavenger Hunt (PDF) locations for a chance to win a free Family Activity Pass.

For those looking to get a ride to the event and avoid traffic, Oakville Transit will have a shuttle running from Bronte GO Station.

Care-A-Van customers are reminded they need to pre-book their trips to and from the fireworks.

Here’s a look at the scheduled events for the Canada Day celebration:

  • 6 p.m. – Land acknowledgement followed by a performance by Sing Along Tim and the Pacifiers on the stage near the pier.
  • 6 to 9 p.m. – Booths, sports zone, arts and craft zone from town and community groups, plus an Indigenous reflective area.
  • 7:15 p.m. – Balletomane Hip Hop and Ballet performs on the stage near the pier, providing instruction so that the crowd can join in.
  • 8 p.m. – Pipe and Drum Welcome on the stage near the pier with Land Acknowledgement by Elijah M. Williams (Director, Indigenous Engagement Sheridan College), and a performance of the national anthem by Jakin Cadieux and Ray Tiberia.
  • 8:30 p.m. – The Lonely Hearts perform on the stage near the pier.
  • 10 p.m. – Fireworks display over Lake Ontario (weather permitting).
