Electric vehicles are now in charge in Oakville’s Bronte Village.

The Town’s goal of creating a community-wide network of electric vehicle charging stations took another step with the installation of a charging station on Marine Drive in Bronte.

The new Bronte charging station is the first of several expected to be installed in the near future to help encourage local residents to use electric vehicles and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Marine Drive EV charging location can charge two vehicles at the same time while the owners of the vehicle can go for a walk and check the sites of Bronte Village.

Electric vehicle drivers can pay for the charging by using the ChargePoint app. Cost is a $1.50 per hour up to three hours and $5 an hour after three hours.

Parking fees also apply when parking in the commercial districts on Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Electric vehicles parked at the charging station must be charging. Vehicles parked at the EV charging station that aren’t plugged will receive a $125 ticket.
