Oakville woman pulled over in Parry Sound for high beams facing drugs and weapons charges

An Oakville woman is facing drugs and weapons charges after her vehicle was pulled over by police in Parry Sound for having its high beams on.

On Monday at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were on Hwy. 400 in Seguin Township when they witnessed a vehicle driving with its high beams on.

Police then pulled the vehicle over and after approaching the car and speaking with the driver noticed drugs inside the car.

A drug investigation was initiated and police would seize more than $3,000 in cash, cannabis products, amphetamines and hallucinogens along with a Taser.

Annie Tomei, 23, of Oakville, has been charged with:

• unauthorized possession of a weapon

• occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted or prohibited weapon present

• possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

• possession of a schedule 3 substance

• possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking

• possession of illicit cannabis contrary to the Cannabis Act

• failure to use lower beams-following, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Tomei is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Aug. 5.
