Oakville Transit buses will be taking a short moment to honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday (Sept. 19).

In recognition of the National Day of Mourning and to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, Oakville Transit buses will pause at a safe location for 96 seconds at 1 p.m.

This pause coincides with the Provincial moment of silence following Her Late Majesty’s State Funeral on Monday, the last day of the official period of mourning in Canada.

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, with 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle on Sept. 18.

Flags at Oakville Town Hall have been flown at half-mast since Sept. 8 and will until sunset on Sept.19.

The funeral will take place at Westminister Abbey in London, England.

Oakville Transit will operate regular Monday service for the remainder of the day.
