Time to lace up the skates, a popular Oakville outdoor skating rink is ready to enjoy.

The refrigerated outdoor skating rink at Trafalgar Park will open for the season next Monday (Dec. 12).

Weather permitting, skaters can enjoy the rink daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until March.

Admission is free and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no registration required. Capacity limits apply and are subject to change.

Town rinks are unsupervised. Standard public skating admission requirements apply, including:

  • No game play or scrimmages allowed.
  • The use of sticks and pucks are permitted during designated times only.
  • Failure to follow the rules may result in being asked to leave.
  • Helmets are strongly recommended.

After a snow fall, snow clearing on all outdoor rinks will begin within 24 hours of the end of the snow.

Skaters are to not use the ice on days where the temperature is mild in an effort to protect the surfaces at local outdoor rinks.

A reminder that skating on ponds is not permitted in Oakville. Going on frozen ponds, rivers and lakes can be very dangerous and walking, skating or tobogganing can be unpredictable.

Cancellations will be posted here.
