Oakville students awarded scholarships through local club

A local organization that provides students with funding support for their education announced its scholarship recipients for 2021.
On Thursday, the Oakville chapter of the Canadian Federation for University Women (CFUW) announced the 15 recipients who will receive a scholarship.
This year $26,000 was raised through donations and fundraising to help the students, which the CFUW-Oakville says is an increase from last year.
The young female recipients are selected from the city’s publicly funded high schools, based on high academic achievement, outstanding community service, and demonstrated leadership.

The Oakville chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women was founded in 1949 with 54 charter members and is a volunteer organization.
The CFUW helps promote the pursuit of knowledge and education and encourages continuing education for women through the granting of bursaries and awards.
