Oakville voters can’t be blamed if they do a double-take when they have a first glance at the ballot in this year’s provincial election and see two of the candidates are named Stephen Crawford.

No, that isn’t a printing mistake and yes, there are two candidates with the same name among the nine candidates running in the Oakville riding.

One is current Progressive Conservative Party MPP Stephen Crawford who is seeking re-election, the second is Stephen (Kenneth) Crawford of the None of the Above Direct Democracy party (NOTA).

The lesser known Crawford is listed on his party’s site as a radio host and producer and doesn’t live in Oakville.

The Oakville MPP recently took to Twitter and asked voters with advanced polls open until Saturday to ensure they vote for him.

“Just a reminder early voting is open to April 28 here in Oakville and also as a reminder there are two Crawfords on the ballot,” Crawford said. “Please make sure you put your X beside Stephen Crawford PC Party of Ontario so we can continue to get it done for the people of Oakville.”

Crawford is one of 28 NOTA candidates running in this year’s provincial election. Greg Vezina, the NOTA party leader, is running in the Mississauga Centre riding.

The provincial election is June 2.

“There may be two Stephen Crawford’s on the ballot, but only one will get it done for Oakville. Vote Stephen Crawford PC Party of Ontario,” said Tim Porter, Crawford’s campaign manager.
