Oakville residents get sneak preview of new community centre and park

Oakville residents are getting a preview of what the new Sixteen Mile Creek community centre, library and park will look like.

The Town of Oakville will host a virtual open house session on March 22 and 30 to share the latest conceptual design plans for the new state-of-the-art facility set to open in North Oakville in 2024.

The new recreation and culture facility, library and community park includes unique flexible multi-use indoor and outdoor spaces, all showcased in a newly released video.

“Council and I are so excited to share plans for Oakville’s newest recreation and culture complex, opening in 2024,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.  “We remain committed to delivering the programs, services, and facilities you need to live, play, work, and support your family.

“I hope you’ll participate in the upcoming virtual open house information sessions and share your ideas on program options that support the community’s active and creative interests.”

The virtual open house information sessions will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, March 30 at 12 p.m.

A project overview will be shared at the start of each meeting followed by smaller breakout rooms listed below to discuss program options and suggestions with recreation and culture, parks and open space, and Oakville Public Library staff:

Breakout Room 1A: Parks (Learn more about what is planned for the park)
Breakout Room 1B: Aquatics centre and programs
Breakout Room 1C: Community programs – seniors, adult, and culture
Breakout Room 2A: Fitness, sports leagues, and gymnasium programs
Breakout Room 2B: Child and youth programs, including day camps
Breakout Room 2C: Library programs and services

Pre-register for one or both of the virtual meetings offered by emailing [email protected] or calling 905-815-2000 and indicate which breakout room(s) you would like to join.

Please note, discussions in Breakout Rooms 1A-1C occur at the same time, followed by discussions in Breakout Rooms 2A-2C, which occur at the same time.

Once registration is complete, you will receive an email meeting invitation providing you with the link to join the information session on the date(s) you have chosen.
