A local resident arrived home in the afternoon and ended up interrupting a break-in at his Oakville residence on Wednesday (March 29).

Halton Regional Police are looking for three suspects after what was believed to be an attempted robbery of a home located on Fairmeadow Trail.

Police say two suspects knocked on the front door of the home around 3 p.m. and when they didn’t receive an answer proceeded to kick down the locked door and enter the residence.

A third suspect was sitting in a parked vehicle in front of the home, waiting.

The homeowner arrived to find a dark-coloured SUV parked outside the front of his home.

“It’s believed the suspects were still inside the home and were alerted by the driver and fled the home by a different route/door,” Halton police Cst. Steve Elms told inhalton.com.

“There was no interaction between the resident and the suspects in the home.”

The homeowner called police who arrived and cleared the home. No suspects were located.

“Nothing was taken as it’s believed the resident interrupted the suspects before they were able to steal anything,” said Elms.

The two suspects who broke into the home are both described as male and six-feet-tall. There was no description of the third suspect who was waiting in the vehicle outside the front of the home.
