This email wasn’t fake, Oakville resident really is receiving $1 million

Oakville’s Martin Safranek admits he rarely says yes to Encore when he goes to play Lotto 6/49.

Good thing it’s not always a firm decision.

Saying “yes” to Encore has made the local man $1 million dollars richer after he matched all seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the May 6, 2023 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I play for fun,” said Safranek, while picking his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I don’t usually play Encore. This time was a fluke.

“When I got an email from OLG telling me I won, I thought it was fake!”

Safranek, who has played the lottery for around 30 years now, told his family after confirming he had won. He admits that they didn’t believe him at first.

“I felt like the sun was shining a little brighter that day,” he smiled.

The Oakville man has yet to decide what to do with his new found wealth.

“I’m still waiting for it to sink in,” he concluded.
