Be on alert for current email, text scam, warns Oakville Hydro

Oakville Hydro is alerting customers after hearing of a current email and text scam using their name.
The local electricity distribution company has received reports from customers that they are receiving emails and texts from someone claiming to be them asking for banking information.
“This is not Oakville Hydro,” the local energy company said Monday on Twitter. “We will never ask for sensitive information to be provided by email or text.”
Oakville Hydro is asking anyone unsure if the scam has targeted them to call them directly at 905-825-9400.
