An Oakville dwelling that was previously determined to be a hazard was behind a high-rise apartment fire, investigators say.

The blaze, which occurred last Friday night (Dec. 30) at 205 Queen Mary Dr., caused an estimated $150,000. There were no injuries.

According to reports, an occupant of the unit had been warned that their hoarding constituted a fire hazard and was told to clean up the unit.

After the Oakville Fire Department extinguished the fire, an investigation was undertaken by police.

Subsequently, a man was arrested and charged with arson by negligence and failing to comply with probation.

His identity has not been released by police.
