The Oakville Fire Department is reaching out to help Ukraine in the country’s time of need.

The local fire department has partnered with Firefighters Without Borders and BCU Foundation to donate much-needed firefighting equipment and first aid gear to the war-torn European nation that is fighting to stave off an invasion by Russian military.

The large donation of gear to firefighting crews in the Ukraine includes boots, gloves, bunker gear and suppression equipment.

“(Oakville Fire Department) is honoured to work with (Firefighters Without Borders) and BCU Foundation to pass on much-needed firefighting equipment, bunker gear and supplies for Ukrainian firefighters,” said the local fire department on Twitter. “Together, we are stronger.”

Firefighters Without Borders is a non-profit organization committed to providing equipment, training and support to fire service agencies around the world.

The BCU Foundation is a member-supported charitable institution that has helped provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
