Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon and now he’ll be setting foot in a brand new 2022 Lincoln Nautilus thanks to workers at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Plant.

Aldrin, who along with fellow American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first people to ever walk on the moon back in 1969, received the brand new vehicle he ordered in time for his 92 birthday.

The American astronaut had ordered the Lincoln Nautilus to celebrate his birthday last month, but a world-wide chip shortage that has temporarily shut down auto plants for weeks at a time along with shipping and weather issues had delayed delivery of the vehicle for months.

Aldrin’s people reached out to Ford CEO Jim Hackett for help and he turned to Lincoln president Joy Falotico to ensure he would get the vehicle before his birthday on January 20.

The Oakville plant also put a special plaque on the Lincoln Nautilus that read “Especially made for Buzz Aldrin by Oakville Assembly Plant employees.”

The Oakville Ford plant has been one of the hardest hit by the chip shortage over the last or so, with approximately 120 days of lost production.
