Oakville councillor Parmer elected to Halton Police Board

Oakville Town and Regional Ward 7 Councillor Pavan Parmar is the newest member of the Halton Regional Police Services (HRPS) Board.

The local councillor was sworn into office on Thursday after being elected by the Halton Regional Council at a recent meeting.

“It’s my honour and privilege to serve on this board, where I will have the opportunity to represent our growing and diverse community’s needs and best interests,” Parmar said after being sworn in.

HRPS chief Steve Tanner congratulated the Board’s newest member.

“We look forward to working with you in your new role,” Tanner said on Twitter.

Parmar and her husband Neal are lifelong Oakville residents and live in Ward 7 with their son Millen.

She was elected to Town and Regional Councillor for Ward 7 in Oct. of 2018.

Parmar holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University and a MBA degree from the Ted Rogers School of Business at Ryerson University.

Early in her career, she served as an aide to Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.
