Oakville Town Council is being asked for the rezoning of an area on Lyons Lane to allow for the construction of a 26-storey tower with 295 residential units.

The development proposal by MGM Development Inc. for 627 Lyons Lane, located east of Sixteen Mile Creek near a community garden and west of a group of commercial buildings, will be discussed at the upcoming Planning and Development virtual meeting on Monday.

The proposal would see the area rezoned in order to build above the current limit of four storeys and would allow for an increase in parking capacity to more than 295 spaces.

The development would also include 295 bicycle parking spaces. Vehicle access from the South Service Road is also being proposed.

Midtown Oakville is one of 25 areas identified as an urban growth centre in the Province’s Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe: Places to Grow. The area is planned to accommodate significant intensification to meet prescribed Provincial, Regional and municipal targets.

Registration for submissions, orally or written, are to be in before noon on Friday, Jan. 14. Call 905-815-6015 or email [email protected].
