Police have charged a novice driver from Brampton who was already on a suspended licence with stunting after a traffic stop near Barrie.
The OPP says the incident happened on a stretch of Highway 400 on Monday in Innisfil, some 20 kilometres south of Barrie.
Police said the 19-year-old male, who is a novice G1 driver from Brampton, was clocked travelling 158 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The man was also stopped on a 400-series highway, which are off-limits to G1 drivers unless travelling with a G-licenced driver.
But police say the man was already under a licence suspension from previous “novice violations” at the time of the traffic stop.
The 19-year-old was charged with multiple offences including stunt driving, drive under suspension, and G1 prohibited highway, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
