Whether frozen bums becomes the determining factor is unknown, but a motion to turn Lakeview Park and the future Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park to “all-seasons” parks has been sent back to staff by Oshawa Council.

Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter said there are some “challenges” with the idea, which is mostly about keeping the sidewalks clear of snow all winter and maintaining the litter situation. “Some of our washrooms are not set up for winter use so staff will be looking at the cost and whether our facilities can handle winter.”

The City will also look at providing additional parking at Lakeview West Park during the winter months.

The proposal will return to council in time for 2022 budget deliberations in the spring.
