The City of Oshawa is once again looking to honour its unpaid champions of service, the volunteers.

The Community Organization Volunteer Award recognizes volunteers for their service to community-based organizations in Oshawa, with nominations now open.

Individuals must be nominated for recognition by their volunteer organization. Each organization is permitted to nominate two individuals annually.

All volunteers must be currently active and must have completed at least five years of continuous volunteerism for the organization. If payment has been received for any services provided, recognition is not permitted and volunteers can be honoured only once for each qualifying organization.

Eleven volunteers were honoured in 2022, representing Simcoe Hall Settlement House, ODAWG Harmony Dog Park, Oshawa Senior Community Centres 55+, Durham Shoestring Performers, Salvation Army Food Bank and Oshawa-Durham AM Kiwanis Club.
