As was the case last year, there will be no Santa Claus Parade in Niagara-on-the-Lake this year but that doesn’t mean jolly ol’ Saint Nick will be a no-show.

The town is bringing back its Santa Around the Town where the big red fellow goes up and down streets through all five Niagara-on-the-Lake communities on a festive float.

Of course, families are welcome to line their neighbourhood streets or even watch from the comforts of their home as they wave and shout a Merry Christmas to Kris Kringle.

“This event was well-loved and well-received last year and is such a great way to spread holiday joy among our wonderful community,” said Mayor Betty Disero.

Marnie Cluckie, the town CAO, said the town has to remain vigilant and mindful of COVID-19 restrictions and Public Health recommendations but that the “Town Staff and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Christmas Committee agree that Santa Around the Town is a great alternative to our traditional and beloved Santa Parade.”

“While we certainly look forward to bringing the Town’s Christmas parade back in 2022, this alternative event is a great way to ensure the health and safety of our community is protected while still getting residents in the holiday spirit!”

As it gets closer to December, the town will announce the date and route of the one man parade.
