No hydro for thousands in Hamilton on the East Mountain

A massive power outage, affecting more than 3,800 homes and businesses on the East Mountain, is expected to last until mid-evening on Thursday.

Alectra Utilities, the hydro supplier in for Hamilton, says there is an outage in the area of Pritchard Rd. and Upper Gage Ave. and from Rymal Rd E. to Larch St., on both sides of the LINC (Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway). The utility is giving an ETR (expected time of resumption) of 9 p.m., which would be more than 6½ hours from the time a smaller outage was reported in the same area.

Hamilton Police have also closed Limeridge Rd. E. from Upper Kenilworth Ave. to Albion Falls. That is in the affected area.

The offial tally of affected Alectra customers is 3,824. It was 385 when the outage was first-reported in the mid-afternoon. .

During a power outage, any intersections without functional traffic lights should be treated as four-way stops by drivers and other road users.
