The CAA is back with its annual Worst Roads campaign after a one-year absence due to the pandemic and there were no Durham streets cracking the top 10 list.

The worst road in the province, according to the CAA, is Victoria Street in Prince Edward County. Another Prince Edward County Road – County Road 49 – was among the worst in 2019, finishing fourth.

Farewell Street in Oshawa was Durham’s worst road, but barely made the top five in Halton, Peel, York and Durham.

Bloor Street West in Oshawa was on the list in 2017 and 2018 and is currently under construction, while the worst road in the 905 in 2019 – and the ninth-worst road in Ontario – was Carnegie Beach Road in Scugog.

Barton Street East in Hamilton was third worst in 2021, following Ottawa’s Carling Avenue. Another Hamilton street, Burlington East, topped the list in 2019 for worst road in the province.

Typically, municipalities use the list to plan potential construction projects in the future.
